BELLE OF THE BALL
One of the most distinguished members of the square gaited business during the 1926-27 season has been Great Bell, the five-year-old daughter of Great Audubon— Myrtle Bell, who belongs to the Southland sportsman, Mr. T. McMath. Great Bel! won three times in succession at Gore, Winton and Forbury Park. She tackled the pacers at Invercargill in one heat, but failed to beat them. The Great Audubon mare was next stepped out at the Forbury Park winter fixture where she landed a double. She then went to Christchurch under C. Donald’s care, and was stepped out at Canterbury Park where she missed getting a place. Commencing on a 5.8 mark the Southlandowned mare finished the season on a 4.41 ' peg. Next year Great Bell promises to be the “belle of the ball.”
