WORLD BOXING TITLE

MIDDLE-WEIGHT BOUT By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright LONDON, Friday. The contest for the world’s middleweight boxing championship between T. Milligan, England, and M. Walker, American holder, at Olympia, was won by Walker. The American virtually knocked out Milligan, whose towel was thrown in on the count of eight in the tenth round. The boxers had signed up for a 20-rounds match. Milligan had the better of the fight in the early stages, his speedy footwork enabling him to evade Walker’s blows, while he himself got in some good hits. In the. sixth round, however, Walker began to obtain the upper hand. Milligan thereafter was repeatedly floored. His punches lacked sting, while Walker was hitting with great effect. In the ninth round Milligan went down for eight, but came up again dazed. In the tenth round Walker immediately went for the finish and knocked Milligan to the boards. A second blow to the jaw saw the latter defeated. —A. and N.Z.
