A death-dealing heat wave has mostratecl the population of the Central West, killing five persons In Chicago, nine in Ohio, two in Wisconsin, and three in Minnesota. Many people sought relief at crowded beaches and at every available watering-place, resulting in seven persons being drowned at lowa. The temperature at Chicago was 98 degrees. Scores of people were overcome. Relief from the heat is probable to-morrow.—A. and N.Z.
