HOUSING THE PEOPLE
BRITAIN’S RECOVERY (.British Official Wireless .) RUGBY, Wednesday. In the House of Commons this evening the Minister of Health, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, said that in tho few years preceding the war the average number of houses built in Britain each year was about 61,000. During the last three years, up to March 31 last, the numbers built were 137,000, 173,000 and 217,000 respectively.
