A TEN-WICKET WIN

New Zealand Cricketers Beat the Edinburgh Clubs

DACRE’S BRILLIANT BATTING

Staavd By Mackessack Averts Innings Defeat.

AT cricket, New Zealand inflicted a ten-wicket defeat on the Edinburgh Clubs. Dacre, in New Zealand’s first innings, briskly carried on his 48 not out the previous day to 167. The innings was declared closed with seven wickets down for 406. The Clubs would have suffered an innings defeat but for Mackessack, who, after six wickets had fallen for 131, hit hard for a timely 94. McGirr took two wickets for 13, and Cunningham four for 44. Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Thursday. hit out brilliantly, his 167 taking 90 minutes to compile. He hit three sixes and 26 fours. Mills batted soundly. The innings occupied 3£ hours. Requiring 207 to avert an innings defeat, the Clubs lost six wickets for 131, but the hard hitting of Mackessack, who scored 94 not out in 60 minutes, caused New Zealand to go to the wickets again.
