THE NEW REGENT
SEMI-FINALISTS AND “LONDON” A unique opportunity for the general public to see the ability of the four semi-finalists in the “Miss New Zealand 1927” screen quest who headed last week’s poll will be afforded at the Regent Theatre this evening and following nights, also at the matinee tomorrow. In another splendid and appropriate setting, the four girls will appear in a series of acting and screen tests on the stage, and audiences will thus be helped further before deciding to whom they will give their votes for “Miss Auckland.” The tests will be scrupulously fair and the girls will be given the aid of excellent stage lighting and effects. The audiences at the Regent and Majestic Theatres will continue to be the sole judges, per medium of the voting cards, and it is anticipated that the interest of the public in the contest will be quickened tremendously during the week. Special music will again be played by the Operatic Orchestra, under the baton of Maurice Guttridge, the overture being Keler Bela’s beautiful “Romantique.” “London,” the principal film attraction, is the first picture from the Brit-
