VOTING METHODS

TWO BILLS PROMISED LABOUR MEMBERS’ INTENTIONS CTHJJ SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter .) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. A Local Elections and Polls Bill will shortly be introduced into the House of Representatives by Mr. P. Fraser, Wellington Central. The measure will probably aim at the repeal of section 13 of the Amending Act of last year, which vested voting power in corporate bodies. The debate on this Bill will probably bring into discussion the method of voting in municipal elections, over which there has been much controversy of late. The general system of voting will be dealt with in Mr. J. MeCofhb's, Lyttelton, Proportional Voting Bill, which has already been introduced, and which is believed to be on lines with a similar measure brought down during last session advocating proportional representation. *
