HUSBAND AND WIFE

BOTH LAWYERS For the first time on record, it is said, a husband and wife have qualified as members of the English Bar. Mrs. Dapho Powell, the wife of a Bridgend (Glamorgan) barrister, has passed the Bar final. Mrs. Powell is the daughter of a former Cardiff shipowner and is president of the local Women’s Divisional Liberal Association. She has taken an active part in local social life and is a keen golfer. Her husband practised as solicitor in Bridgend, but was called to the Bar four years ago. “We are looking forward to the first opportunty of appearing against each • other in court: then you will see the sparks fly,” said Mrs. Powell in an interview.
