ROBIN, THE WRESTLER

RECEIVES TEMPTING OFFERS NOT READY TO TRAVEL (Special to THE SUN.) NAPIER, To-day. As proof of the respect which his wrestling prowess has aroused among followers of the grappling game in other countries,* Ike Robin had a recent offer of a contract from a Melbourne firm. This has now been followed by an invitation that almost amounts to an appeal to make a. trip to America. This is in the form of a letter emanating from a gentleman of the name of Krank. who for some time past has been guiding the fortunes, and if cables can be relied upon, the misfortunes of Stanislaus Zbyszko, the ex-world champion, who is in the land of the “Stars and Stripes” at present, having recently returned in a somewhat shop-soiled condition as the result of a rather unfortunate European tour. This gentleman points out, and doubtless rightly, that purses amounting to several thousands are waiting for Robin, and further unburdens the opinion that the giant Hawke’s Bay Maori would beat all with whom he cam Sin contact in Yankeeland with comparative ease. It will, apparently, take more than a few thousands in filthy lucre to awake a desire for travel in Ike’s manly breast, however, for the genial giant, who was in Napier yesterday, expressed the opinion that he would, to use his own expression, “hang on for a bit yet.” He still, apparently, clings to the hope lhat the champions will follow' him to New Zealand, and is content to wait patiently for such an event. Questioned as regards his plans now that Ted Thye has arrived in Australia, Robin said that he had not considered making a trip across the Tasman as yet. He expressed the opinion that Thye would regain the world’s championship crown from Sam Clapham, who is also in Melbourne at present, and it would be time enough to go over when there would be a chance for the title. “There are too many wrestlers in Melbourne at present, anyway," was Ike’s parting remark.
