ADVERTISING N.Z.

SCENIC CIGARETTE CARDS VALUE TO DOMINION One of the finest methods of advertising New Zealand abroad has been devised by the sellers of a particular brand of cigarette. But as far as can be ascertained the pictures are not included in. the same brand of cigarette which is sold abroad. Beautiful views of New Zealand have been printed and one placed in each packet of cigarettes, the whole making a splendid reco rd of the Dominion’s grandest view*,. Ships leaving New' Zealand will certainly carry the cigarettes and the views. Visitors to the Dominion, it they are smokers, will see them, blit England and Australia would be the best countries in which to exploit thi» admirable method of advertising. Perhaps, however, the views will bp sold in England, if the same craze for cigarette cards exists there. America would also be a good field, if an aav rangement with the tobacco people could be made. The views are those taken by thfe Tourist Department. The arrangements were made through the New Zealand Publicity Department. Several people have taken the credit for first suggesting that views of New Zealand be placed in packets of cigarettes, but it is difficult to discover how the idea actually came about.
