Though the evidence declared that the carbon had been removed from the magneto to prevent Hughie Smith, a mechanic aged 22, from driving back to town from Eastbourne after a drinking Party on Sunday night, the magistrate c £ nv i c f e d him for being drunk in charge of a car and imposed a fine of £lO, with costs.
