THEFT FROM COUNCIL

TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT CLERK Samuel Stewart Sharpe, a city council clerk, who stole £33 5s from the Auckland City Council Traffic Department, was admitted to probation at the Police Court this morning. Sharpe pleaded guilty last week. pHIEF - DETECTIVE CUMMINGS said the thefts had been committed between April 21 and May 30. Restitution had been made. The magistrate said that in view of the excellent report which the probation officer had made on accused, he would grant probation. Two years was fixed as the term.
