A FACTION WAR
WATERSIDERS TAKE SIDES FEARS OF A RIOT By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 12.35 p.m. BRISBANE, To-day. A faction fight has arisen among the waterside workers at Cairns, and has assumed a serious aspect. At the request of the police, attempts by the shipowners to pick up labour have been abandoned owing to the fear of a riot between the opposing forces. The dispute has resolved itself into a fight between the Federal president of the Union, who is in Cairns, and the Federal secretary in Melbourne. — A. and N.Z.
