SENSATIONAL ESCAPES
A PRISONER’S RECORD IN GAOL ONCE MORE

Herbert Stanley, who made a sensational escape from the Darlinghurst Courthouse, was discovered in the Albury gaol, where, under the name of Paterson, he had been committed for trial on charges of burglary and steala motor-car. Stanley had dyed his hair, and otherwise §o altered his appearance that even the finger-print department had Sreat difficulty in establishing his identity. It is alleged that Stanley, after his escape from Darlinghurst, made a journey to the Albury district in two Biotor-cars, which he stole, and abandoned en route. He is credited six times with escaping from custody under sensational circumstances. —A. and N.Z. A Sydney message of April 7 stated that Stanley made a sensational escape from jjj* Darlinghurst Courthouse. He had r~* n brought from prison to receive iienand he was waiting in the corrir”r below the dock, when he obtained cjlwlon from a constable to visit the «vat°ry, but he failed to return. It was tmj°Y ered that he had made his way a p an adjoining empty court through in the dock, which had Inadbeen left open. From there he acned the street and got clear away.
