NO ISLAND BOAT THIS WEEK CHEAPER EGGS Most classes of local and sub-tropi-cal fruits are well supplied at the present time and the market remains dull. Apples and pears, especially, are meeting with a slow sale. No Sydney boat arrives this week. The Waipahi leaves for the Cook Islands again on Thursday, but is not due back for at least three weeks after her departure. The Tofua, with bananas and other sub-tropical fruits, is due in Auckland about Monday week. In the field and garden produce section potatoes are in rather short supply. Onions continue a glut on the market. Most other lines are heavily supplied. Eggs are coming forward in increased quotas, and prices have eased considerably during the last week—to see a market to-day little more than 2s. PRICES UNDER THE HAMMER Prices realised under the hammer this morning ranged as follows: FRUIT Apples.—Delicious, 7s to 9s 6d a case: Sturmers, 7s 6d to 8s 6d; Brightens. 5s 6d to 7s; Doughertys, 5s to 6s 6d; Monroes. 6s 6d to 7s 6d: Ballarats, 8s to Ss 6d; Salome, 5s 6d to 6s 6d. Pears.—Winter Nellis, 9s to 11s 6d a case; P. Barrys, 7s to 8s 6d; Keifl’ers, 6s to 7s 6d; Clairgeau, 6s to 6» 6d. Grapes.—Australian white, firsts, 16s a case; poor quality from 10s. Tomatoes.—Hothouse, firsts, Is to Is 4d a lb; others from 5d a lb. Passions. —5s to 9s a case. Tree Tomatoes.—4s 6d to 5s 6d a case. Bananas.—Ripe, repacks, 21s to 25s a case; seconds, 7s 6d to 15s. Oranges.—Repacks. 14s to 16s 6d. Lemons. —Fresh, 5s 6d to 8s 6d a case; cured, 10s to 14s. VEGETABLES Potatoes.—Southern, 7s to 8s a cwt. Kumeras.—Tauranga, 10s to 13s a cwt; local, 5s to 7s bag. LONDON PRODUCE MARKETS OFFICIAL QUOTATIONS Under date June 25, the New Zealand High Commissioner in London cabled the following resume of the London markets: TALLOW The market continues quiet. Present quotations are:— Mutton.—Fine, 35s 6d to 36s a cwt.; fair to good, 34s to 3£s; dark to dull, 31s 6d to 32s 6d. Beef.—Sweet and/or mixed, 35s to 3Ss a cwt.; fair to good, 33s to 355; dark to dull, 31s to 325. Mixed.—Fair to good, 32s 6d to 34s 6d a cwt.; dark to dull, 31s to 325. Gut, etc.—26s 6d to 31s 3d a cwt. FRUIT The market for apples is firm at present, especially for coloured sorts. The Port Caroline Nshipment was good except for a little waste in Winter Nelis pears.. Prices are as follow: Apples (per case). —Sturmer, 17s to 20s; Dougherty, Tasman, Adam’s Permain and Salome, 18s to 20s; Rome Beauty, Delicious, IS to 21s; Jonathan and Statesman, 20s to 235. Pears (per tray).—"Winter Nelis, 7s to 12s 6d; P. Barry and Keiffers, 6s to 7s. The Somerset London shipment is partially discharged and in good condition so far. Otago prices are: Delicious, Statesman, Jonathan, 20s to 24s a case; Cleopatra, 20s to 22s 6d; Spitzenberg, Scarlet Nonpareil, 19s to 235. HEMP The Manila market is dull and lower prices are accepted by second-hand sellers. Shippers not following, and with more inquiry at close, sellers of “A” grade ask £43 10s for June-August shipments. The sisal market is a little more active. No. 1 Tanganyika early shipments sold at £37 15s, and No. 2 £37. Tow: Demand is good sales made at £29 to £3l, according to quality. Mexican unchanged. Good white offered to Continent £35. New Zealand market continues quiet and values nominally urA changed. Business might be possible on the basis of high points £35 and fair £34. WOOL Bradford market steady. Present quotations for tops are: 64’s (Merino), warp, 4s Id a lb.; average, 3s lid; 56’s (super halfbred), 2s 10£d; 50’s halfbred), 2s 2£d; 40‘s, prepared, is 72d.
