Auxiliary Power Plant for Auckland
SUPPLY NOW ASSURED GOVERNMENT’S DECISION 'J'HE Government’s decision to purchase and instal plant to carry the province through any deficiency that might arise through the delay of the Arapuni scheme has been communicated to the Auckland Electric Power Board. ITAVING read to the board yesterday a telegram from the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. K. S. Williams, conveying the information, Mr. W. J. Holds worth added that it would save the board a considerable capital expenditure, and that the public could now go forward assured that there would be no curtailment. The new plant would be set up perhaps at Penrose or at Waihi and would charge a little higher price foe power from the plant. The Auckland Power Board and the other boards were quite walling to pay extra. “A very satisfactory conclusion,” commented a member.
It was resolved to thank the Minister for the telegram, and assure him of the co-operation of the Board.
