The going must be hard when the director and cameraman have to wear-bullet-proof vests and direct the action from steel shields! But that’s the kind of a screen story “Underworld” happens to be. Josef von Sternberg, director, and Bert Glennon, cameraman, are taking no chances when they photograph scenes in which machine guns rattle away and hand grenades are tossed about. ‘'Underworld” was written as an original story for the film by Ben Hecht and the featured Paramount players in it are George Barcroft, Clive Brook, Evelyn Brent and Larry Semon.
