CHURCHES ATTACK GAMING BILL
“N.Z.’S GREATEST CURSE” “That the association communicate at once with all the Auckland members of Parliament protesting against Sir George Hunter’s Gaming Bill, to be introduced to the Legislative Council on Wednesday, and urging them to vote against it, and, further, that the Auckland Council of Christian Congregations be invited to take simultaneous action on the same lines.” was the resolution passed at a meeting of the Auckland Ministers’ Association yesterday. The Wellington Ministers’ Association has passed a similar resolution. The Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher said that the Bill was calculated to increase one of New Zealand s greatest curses—the betting habit.
