FIXTURE TERMINATED COMMENTS AND RESULTS The Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club were favoured with fine weather for the concluding day of the winter fixture on Saturday, when there was a good attendance. The totalisator returns showed a decrease on last year. The figures being, £13,802 for the day, compared with £20,583 on the second day last ye-.T, a decrease of £6,781. For the meeting the total was £24,335, against £38,455 last year, a decrease of £14,120. Peshwar at Last Proceedings began with the Havelock Hurdles, for which Calluna, Peshwa and Great Day were favourites. Calluna and Roman led over the first fence, and going past the stand the order was Calluna, Maidos, Roman, Rakauponga, Blissfulness, Grey Lady and Peshwa. Along the back Calluna and Maidos had charge from Blissfulness, Peshwa and Rakauponga. Maidos lost his position half a mile from home, and Calluna was proclaimed a good thing, but Peshwa and Blissfulness both wore him down and beat him. Peshwa won by a length and ahalf from Blissfulness, who was well clear of Calluna. Rakauponga was fourth and Great Day next. Peneus makes Amends Highway and Sottana were withdrawn from the Turamoe Hurdles, and the five starters were fairly evenly backed. Waioeka Jack led from Peneus for six furlongs, when Peneus took charge and never afterwards was headed. Peneus won easily by three lengths from Comedy Prince, with Matu a poor third and Waioeka Jack last. A Dead Heat Essential was favourite for the Kidnappers Flat. Break o' Day and Eloquent led into the straight from Clavers and Coot. Coot looked like winning at the distance, but Butterscotch came on the outer, and they dead-heated for first. Eloquent was two lengths away third, and Clavers fourth. Coot has been Very consistent in her last several starts, and, considering this, she was at a remarkable price. Butterscotcch was also at good odds. Short Priced Bracket Woden and Kovno, who were bracketed, weer warm favourites in the June Steeplechase. Woden and Little River led in the first round from Hokiol, Kirkwood, San Forte and Pussin’ Through. Nearing the finish Woden had charge from Hokioi, San h orte, Little River and Passin’ Through. Woden stayed on best and won easily by a length and a-half from Sar Forte, who was four lengths ahead of Hokioi, with Passin’ Through next. Tamaterangi's Bracelet The Ladies’ Bracelet -was a good race betwene Mint Leaf, and Tamaterangi, and in the end Tamaterangi, well handled, won by a neck. Ayun Kara and Royal Diadem were next. Hot One Beaten Romantic was a hot favourite in the Raukawa Handicap, but he failed badly. He was one of the early leaders, but Boy and Piperenzo led into the straight, and Boy won easily from Grand National, with Piperenzo third and the favourite next. A Dead Heat Hipo was the elect of backers for the Final Handicap, and the New Plymouth gelding flattered the hopes of his supporters, being prominent with Pop Off and Lipsol to the bend. Here the field bunched and Othon shot to the front and led up the straight from Hipo, with making a good run. The hitter continued the effort and got up in time to make dead heat with Othon, the favourite being well beaten into third place.
