HUMPHREY BISHOP CO. The Humphrey Bishop boom is still going strong! Aucklanders have taken to their hearts the new English Humphrey Bishop Musical Comedy Company. This clever band of entertainers fills the Strand nightly with enthusiastic audiences. Undoubtedly the company is the most expensive attraction ever brought to a picture theatre south of the line. Under the able leadership of Mr. Humphrey Bishop, this bright and sparkling show is given twice daily. To-night the Humphrey Bishop Company will offer its second entirely new programme . “Scratcher” Ross will give a new version of his “Scratcher - isms,” as the “Mocking Bird” and “The Pickled Porter,” while Arthur Hemsley has the assistance of Marie Landon in a screamingly funny sketch, “Arguments,” and he will also appear in a new comicality. Charles Albert will be heard in an entirely new role as “Dismal Desmond,” and will in association with the ballet, present a pretty song scena, "Six Pretty Maids.” Thelma Trott and Doris Pretty have a delightful musical specialty, and John Montfort with Elaine Maye have a pleasing duet, “Its Too Late to be Sorry Now,” the former will also be associated with Walter Kingsley in another of their popular duets. An item deserving of special mention is the operatic scene from “Tannhauser,” in which Walter Kingsley as “Wolfram,” will sing “O, Star of Eve.” with the “Pilgrim Chorus” by the entire company, with a specially augmented orchestra, and organ accompaniment. There is a matinee every day at 2.30. “She.” on the screen, is an adaptation of Sir H. Rider Haggard’s famous novel, starring Betty Blythe. It tells the story of “Ayesha—She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed,” an immortal Queen who rules a catacomb city, and who is awaiting the reincarnation of her lover, for whom she has waited for 2,000 years. Miss Betty Blythe plays “Ayesha.” while Carlyle Blackwell plays Karllikrates. her lover. A picture of special if terest to all sportsmen is the exclusive film of the English Cup v final. Woolwich Arsenal versus Cardiff City.
