RENOWN AT GIBRALTAR
NOW HOMEWARD BOUND By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright GIBRALTAR, Thursday. The battle-cruiser Renown, with the Duke and Duchess of York on board, approached Gibraltar this morning in a dense fog, the first encountered on the tour. Suddenly the mist lifted and the ship was berthed. She was only a few minutes late. After official visits had been paid Their Royal Highnesses landed and proceeded to the City Hall. There addresses of welcome were presented. The remainder of the day was occupied in visiting spots of interest, inspecting the local Boy Scouts and Girl Guides, a garden party, and a dinner on board the Renown. The dinner was attended by the Governor, Sir C. C. Monro, and other prominent personages. Later the Renown left on the last stage of her voyage.—A. and N.Z.-Sun. GIFTS FOR THE DUCHESS (.British Official Wireless .) RUGBY, Thursday. The gifts received by the Duchess of York at Gibraltar included a choice Spanish shawl 150 years old. This was presented by the Chamber of Commerce. According to present arrangements the Prince of Wales and Prince Henry will go to Portsmouth to meet the Duke and Duchess on their return from their tour. King George and Queen Mary and members of the Royal Family will be at Victoria Station to meet them. There will be a guard of honour at the station and the public will have an opportunity of greeting the Duke and Duchess on their drive through the streets to Buckingham Palace.—A. and N.Z.
