DRINKING HOURS
MINERS AND FARM HANDS ALTERED HOURS SOUGHT (THE SUN’B Parliamentary Reporter.) • WELLINGTON, Friday. Readjustment of the hours of trading in the liquor is asked for by the West Coast of the South Island and the East Coast of the North Island, on account of the requirements of rural and mining districts. Mr. Percy Coyle, in advancing the case for these places before Mr. Coates to-day, said that the present hours proved an irksome and unreasonable restriction on the consumer, also making diflicult the task of the licensee in trying to observe the stature. Coast of the South Island and the East Coast of the North Island to have licensed premises opened at 10 a.m. and closed for the period from 1 p.m., and reopening at 3 p.m. and closing at 9 p.m. No extension of the aggregate hours was sought, merely a readjustment. and only in the two places mentioned.
