A teaspoon of vinegar added to lard used for frying will prevent food being fried from absorbing too much fat.
If a bedroom jug becomes furred with hard-water deposits till it with water, put in the peel of a lemon and allow to stand for a day and a night. Then it will be quite easy to wipe the jug clean.
