CAR FALLS THIRTY FEET OVER PRECIPICE

(From Our Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, To-day. AT an early ‘ hour yesterday • ir *" morning a car owned by Mr. Trounson, of Waipu, containing a party of three men and one woman, and driven by Mr. Wm. Stevens, of Waipu, went over a sheer precipice 30 feet deep into the river running through the Gorge. The depth of the water was about five feet, and this, acting as a cushion, probably averted a serious calamity, as the party managed to get out of the car without injury.
