Luscious sweet Cook Island oranges made little more than 12s a case in the city marts this morning. Hothouse grapes which are scarce made up to 4s 2d a lb. In the marts cauliflowers bring 3d to 1s each; cabbages, 1s 6d to 5s a dozen; leeks, 3d a bundle; spring onions, 3d to 9d a bundle; marrows, 2s to 3s a dozen; cucumbers, 7s to 9s a dozen; celery, 6d to 3s a bundle; hothouse beans, 1s 6d a lb. Fish are scarce in the city and hapuka, dory and mu let are practically off the market. There is a big demand for flounder at 1s 3d a lb., terekehi at 4->d a lb. and schnapper at 5Jd a lb. For cash over the counter a leg of pork can be bought for 11d a !b.; ox tails, 8d a lb.; tripe, 6d a lb.; trimmed cutlets, 1s a lb.
Clever Mary is in big demand and is selling at the usual price at all grocers. 1-
