A WEDDING HOAX

FUN-MERCHANT AND HEIRESS By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright LONDON, Thursday. The story that the comedian, Fred Barnes, had been secretly married at his flat at Maida Vale to Miss Rose Tyson, the daughter of the deceased Australian millionaire squatter, Mr. James Tyson, is a hoax, asserts the “Daily Express.” The paper says Mr. Barnes now asserts that the marriage was never performed. Rumour had associated him with Miss Tyson. He was shocked to see the report of the supposed wedding in the newspapers, but after a consultation with Miss Tyson they decided to go through with it. In order to maintain the rumour they celebrated the occasion at various restaurants and clubs. Mr. Barnes says he did not realise at the time the responsibility in which he was involving himself.—A. and N.Z.
