Naval Agreement Nearer

By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. ALL reports as to the Three-Power Naval Limitation Conference at Geneva indicate that there is a real chance of agreement. The delegates are hopeful. Received 11.20 a.m. RUGBY, Thursday. ‘p'OLLOWING a conversation to-day with the First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr. W. C. Bridgeman, who is the chief British delegate to the Naval Disarmament Conference at Geneva, the leader of the United States delegation, Mr. Hugh Gibson, told the Press that distinct progress was being made and that they were approaching nearer to agreement on the major points. He xvas now optimistic regarding the results. The Americans, he added, had asked for a statement regarding the effect of the British proposals as to capital ships, and Mr. Bridgeman had promised it for this evening.
