Australia. —Est. population, Dec. 31, 1916, 4,875,325: est. population. Dec. 31, 1926, 6,110,514; • increase, 1,235,189, being an increase of 25 per cent, in the 10 years. A.M.P. Business in Commonwealth. —Sums assured, ordinary and industrial, December 31, 1916, £76,277,250 14s; December 31, 1926, £135,941,851 16s; increase, £59,664,601 2s, being an increase of 78 per cent, in the 10 years. New Zealand.—Census population. 1916, 1,099,449; census population, 1926, 1,344,384; increase, 244,935, being an increase of 22 per cent, in the 10 years. A.M.P. Business in New Zealand.— Sums assured, ordinary and industrial, December 31, 1916, £16,529,302 2s; December 31, 1926, £33,777,511 16s; increase. £17,248,209 14s, being an increase of 104 per cent, in the 10 years. In Australia, during the last 10 years, the society’s business has increased more than three times as rapidly as the population, and in New Zealand, during the same period, more than four ana a*Lalf times as rapidly as the population.
