TRAFFIC OFFENCES

MOTORISTS IN COURT THIS MORNING’S LIST A variety of traffic offences heard in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday were dealt with by Mr. F. K. Hunt. S.M., at a variety of prices. An unlicensed taxi-car cost A. J. Lewis as owner £ 1 and costs and A. J. Griffin as driver 10s and costs. For causing an obstruction with his motor-vehicle R. Oak was fined 10s and costs. D. Shannon drove his motor-bus dangerously and failed to obey a traffic signal. “ £ 1 and 13s costs on the first charge and £ 1 and 10s costs on the second,” remarked Mr. Hunt. E. L. White’s failure to observe a traffic signal cost him £1 and costs. For driving a bus with defective brakes he was fined £2 and costs. To some motor-cyclists the greatest virtue of their “mount” is the volume of noise they can get out of it. Roaring through Devonport at 11.20 on Sunday morning cost J. A. Lowe £5 10s. MOUNT EDEN CASES H. Bransgrove, traffic inspector for Mount Eden Borough, prosecuted W. Cole for “driving in a manner dangerous.” The offence lay in letting a heavy truck bolt down a hill. Cole’s fine was diminished to 10s and costs, he having been out of work for four months. For driving a motor-van in a dangerous manner J. Edwards was fined £1 and 12s costs.
