It has been suggested by the Boston “Transcript” that a new club of the kind might be formed, namely a Hole in Two Club, the qualification for which would be holing out in two at par, four or five holes. This would, of course, be a far bigger fluke that the old whisky stunt, anti therefore would have to be requitted with at least half a dozen of champagne. Speaking of holes in one, it is a most amazing fact that* “Bobby” Jones has only just scored his first hole in one. And it must not be forgotten that ' Bobby’s” chances' of a one are far greater than those of the average player, for he can drive to greens unread able by almost anyone else. Indeed he is liable to hole out from the tee at holes up to 300 yards, and besides his average shot to the short holes must, for direction, give him a very large pull over the rank and file of the golfer. The Boston “Herald” has published the following appeal to the ladies. It originated at the Cannes Golf Club, Frame, and ran as follows: ■ Dear, Charming Ladies! Please do not wear shoes With high heels or —I am sorry—l shall have to saw them off, as they make too many holes on our greens, and one is quite enough.” SWAGGERER AND BLOWHARD The gate in the recent Hagen-Sara-zen match amounted to 6,000 dollars, so that these players were able to pocket £6OO each for two days of work. No wonder Hagen enjoys an income running into five figures. Arising out of this I match is a suit by Sarazen against the •National Magazine” for .£40,000 damages. It seems that this journal quoted Sarazen as saying that Hagen won his matches by “goat getting” and that he (Sarazen) beat Hagen "any day, every time.” Sarazen maintains that this statement put him into the position of being a swaggerer and a “blowhard.”
