MELBOURNE WANTS FISH

NO LOCAL SURPLUS Fish in Auckland to-day is not plentiful and supplies are only sufficient to cope with the present householders’ demand. Instead of a surplus from the catches, wholesalers are drawing on stocks h€ild in the freezer. There is a firm inquiry from Melbourne for smoked fish, but merchants are unable to respond, and only partially filled orders are sent across the Tasman. Until warmer weather sets in it is not expected that there will be any great surplus locally.
