Miss Jean Buttle and Miss Joy Bishop contributed to the enjoyable programme at the annual gift afternoon at the Pitt Street Methodist Church yesterday. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Freeth, of Sydney, will shortly pay a visit to relatives in the Dominion. Mr. Freeth is a member of the “Sydney Morning Herald’s” senior staff. Mrs. Savage has returned to “Radnor,” Auckland, after a stay at Rotorua. * 0 * Lady Cooper, of Wellington, is at present staying at Takapuna. Miss Jean Begg, secretary of the Y.W.C.A., returned to Auckland yesterday after a visit to Wellington as a delegate to the annual conference of the New Zealand Alliance. Mrs. Dickenson and Miss R. Anderson, of Wellington, are at present spending a holiday in Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Amos, of Wellington, are paying a. visit to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. Milliken, of Wellington, are visiting Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Bowie, of Wellington, are staying at the Star Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. E. Sand with, of Auckland, arrived back in New Zealand by the Marama yesterday. They left for Rotorua this morning. Guests at the Star Hotel include Mr. and Mrs. P.. Mrs. Malcolm Campbell, who has been spending a holiday in New Plymouth, has returned to Auckland. Miss Butler, of Stratford, is a £ present paying a visit to Auckland. Mrs. Moginie is an Auckland visitor to Eltham, where she is the guest of Mrs. J. R. Stewart. Miss J. Pierce Punch, of Raetihi, is visiting Auckland, and is the guest of Mrs. P. Heeth Priest. Members of the Auckland. Methodist Homes and Orphanages Committee, at the gift afternoon at the Pitt Street schoolroom yesterday, passed a vote of sympathy with Mrs. A. C. Caughey, whose son, Mr. Marsden. Caughey, is seriously ill. in London. The Rev. Dr. Ranston, president of the Methodist Conference, and the Rev. S. Griffiths, secretary to the board of management of the homes, voiced the sympathy of Methodists with Mrs., Caughey. * » * A QUIET WEDDING Sandwith.—Campbell The wedding was solemnised quietly yesterday afternoon at St. Mark’s Church, Remuera, of Miss A. Campbell, of Canada, and Mr. George Sandwith, of Auckland, by the Rev. G. C. Cruickshank. The bride, who was given away by Mr. Morrison, wore a charming frock of Sahara toned georgette, and a widebrimmed hat of crinoline: to tone, with a daintily flower-laden brim. Miss Crab.'be, of Feilding, acted as bridesmaid, wearing a dainty frock of beige lace and a pretty hat of blush pink toning. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. C ran ley.
