The iron had been left on the mantelpiece without the cyurrent being turned off. The mantelpiece and the walls and the ceiling nearby were damaged. Speeding Up the Mails. —A deputation of business men of Karangahape Road waited on the Chief Postmaster recently and suggested that to expedite the delivery of mail in Karangahape Road in the morning, a post - man should be put on each side of the street, starting ou! from the Grafton Bridge end.
