LITTLE CHINESE BRIDE

MERCHANT AND FAMILY MR. AH CHEE RETURNS Mr. W. Ah Chee, the well-known Auckland Chinese merchant, returned to INew Zealand yesterday with his son, Mr. Norman Ah Chee and the latter’s bride. THOUGH Australian born. Mrs. Norman Ah Chee can speak little English. Her marriage took place a few months ago in Hong Kong. This is, of course, her first trip to New Zealand. Mr. W. Ah Chee could say very little about Chinese matters as, he declared, he had “kept clear of politics!” “As a matter of fact people in New Zealand know more about Chinese affairs than do the people in Canton.”, he remarked. “With modern cable services and other facilities for getting news, the world at large is made aware of happenings in China without delay.” Until some decisive action had taken place with the Northern people, said Mr. Ah Chee, it appeared as if the present situation would last. Already there had been a split in the ranks of the Kuo Min Taong, the Chinese Nationalist Party now in the ascendent in Canton and the southern provinces. This society is largely represented In Australia and New Zealand, and throughout the Pacific. There was one point, however, on which the Southerners were united, declared Mr. Ah Chee, and that was ip a regard, which almost amounted to worship, of the late Dr. Sun Yat Sen. The widow of the Chinese statesman, he added, was in Canton, and was a power in the councils of her husband’s followers.
