WORK FOR UNEMPLOYED
MOUNT EDEN DECISIONS COMMUNITY BUS LICENCES Improvements to Balmoral Road, according to the Mount Eden Borough Council engineer’s report last night, are now completed, and involved a total expenditure of £23,531, of which £5,128 was expended on water mains, sewerage, and drainage works. It was decided to issue licences for community buses applied for by the Mount Eden Transit s.nd Social Club. In reply to a letter from the New Zealand Alliance of Labour, urging the council to proceed with all possible work in order to relieve unemployment, the council advised that drainage work was about to be undertaken, which would provide labour lor extra men.
