PURDY DRAWS WITH FAIRHALL
N.Z. BOXER IN MELBOURNE By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 8.55 a.m. MELBOURNE To-day. Charlie Purdy, 9.8. fought a draw with Tommy Fairhall, 9.8, last night in a 15-rounds bout. The bout opened tamely, but livened in the sixth round. Fairhall then had a slight, advantage, but Purdy forced the lighting. In the remaining rounds he used, both hands. He appeared to be the winner at the opening of the last round, but Fairhall rallied and made it a draw. The majority favoured Purdy.—A. and N.Z.
