The Riga correspondent of the “Daily Mail” says the Russian RearAdmiral Smirnoff, attached to the Baltic Fleet, informed the newspaper “Pravda” that the presence in the Baltic of a British squadron constituted a militant demonstration against the Soviet Government. The admiral asserted that Britain was trying to discover the naval strength of Russia. Now that Russian sailors were inured to seasickness, the Red Fleet was ready to “take on allcomers,” and would defend Kronstadt to the death. —“Sun.” TWO POLES SHOT PLOT SUSPECTED By Cable.—Press Associatio7i.—Copyright LONDON, Friday. A message from Moscow says two Poles named Knypinsky and Verjbovitch were convicted of entering the Ukraine in 1926 for the purpose of murdering members of the Ukraine Soviet.
