DR. -GOLDSTEIN’S MISSION DISTINGUISHED ZION 3T The ancient hope of th« Jewish people that they will one day be restored to their homeland, brings Dr. Alexander Goldstein to Auckland next month. An envoy from Jerusalem; he is at present in Australia, and will begin his Dominion campaign for the Palestine Foundation Fund in Auckland on July 5. Dr. Goldstein is one of the leading figures of the world-wide movement for they rebuilding of the Jewish homeland in Palestine. A graduate m the Law Faculty at the University of Petrograd, he joined the Zionist movement in 1901, and by- reason of his unusual gifts as an orator and organiser he soon became one of the leaders of Russian Jewry. He has made his mark in journalism and has won distinction as a literary critic. REPRESENTED UKRAINE JEWS In 1917 he was elected a member c»f the Russian Parliament. In he was elected to represent the three million Jews of the Ukraine on the committee of the Jewish delegate®* at the Peace Conference in Paris. IMPORTANT MISSIONS Owing to Dr. Goldstein’s talents a* an orator, he has been entrusted J the Zionist Organisation in p° n<l with a number of* important on behalf of the Keren Hayesoa ( . Palestine Restoration Fund) Mid to Keren Kayemeth (the Jewish Fund) in different countries of world. He has organised success campaigns in the United ° Canada and in the Argentine. of he conducted a campaign on beha.i Zionism in South Africa, where he sympathetically supported by Gen Smuts. In addition to his appeal for ZAO institutions in Palestine, Dr. stein’s visit will be of an nature.
