Maori Cyclist Injured.—While returning to Hamilton from his work at Huntly on Saturday, a Maori named James Horn fell off his motor-cycle and had his right leg broken. Work For Unemployed.—Through the combined efforts of the Government and the City Council, work for about 150 Wellington unemployed will be found by next week. Dwelling Burned.—An outbreak of firs tot.illy destroyed the dwelling of Mr. J. W. Sinclair, at Turangarere, on Saturday morning. The occupants had a narrow escape. The house was injured for £ 600. Lindbergh Welcomed Home.—Captain Charles Lindbergh, hero of the New York-Paris flight, was welcomed home to St. louis on Saturday. Thousands cheered him from streets and housetops as he “cavorted” over the city in his plane.—A. and N;Z. Australian Finance.—The arrangement between the Australian States *nd the Commonwealth has caused grrat satisfaction in London, especially among people interested in Australian loans. Most of the press comment has been decidedly favourable. — A. and N.Z. Destroying Germany’s Forts. —It is understood that the work of examining and reporting upon the destruction of Germany’s eastern fortifications has been entrusted to three military experts, including an American. — A. and N.Z.-Sun. _ Chip’s Engineer Drowned —Mr. J*'redpick Curry, engineer of the New Zealand Shipping: Company’s steamer Tasmania, was drowned at Hamburg, when a boat belonging to the vessel capsized on its way to shore. —A. and N.Z.-Sun. Customs Street Accident. —In Customs Street yesterday afternoon a *oman with a young baby in her arms walked into a moving car driven by Mr. G. Ohms, of Balmoral Hoad. The suffered slight injuries to the kgs. but the infant was unharmed. Cruiser's Keel as Promenade. —The salvors of the former German battle*uVon M oltke, sunk at Scapa Flow at the end of the war, made use of spring tides, pumped the ship full v» ** ant * beached her, bottom up. isitors to Scapa are using the keel as a promenade.—A. and N.Z.-Sun.
