ROYALTY WELCOMED CHEERING CROWDS By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright MALTA, Friday. H.M.S. Renown arrived this afternoon and was escorted into the harbour by the first destroyer flotilla, and a fleet of airplanes. All the warships were gaily dressed and fired a Royal salute. The Maltese crowds lined the battlements and acclaimed the arrival of the Royal ship by handclapping and cheer ing. After numerous official calls, their Highnesses tlie Duke and Duchess of York landed and passed through the decorated .streets to the Valetta Palace, where an investiture was held. Later they drove to the sanatorium and the Governor’s country residence, where they are staying to-night.—A. and N.Z.
