ENGLISHWOMAN’S COURT CASE. “Are there many £3OO coats sold in England in these days of poverty?” Rsked Judgr Sir A. Tobin at Westminster County Court recently, when Mme Jeanette, of Dean Street, W, sued the Kensington Fur Company, of High Street, Kensington, for £1 7/-, balance of the cor>t of mink skins for a £3OO coat. “Very few, so far as I know,” replied sfme Jeanette. Judge Tobin: Perhaps you never Heard the story of Marie Antoinette and the pearl necklace! that led to the French revolution, and the King and Queen of Franc® losing their heads on the guillotine? “I haven't read that,” was the reply. Judge Tobin: Have you got two fui coats?—Yes. The; one I have got on. Isn’t that good enough?—No, I’ve had it for two years, and it was not good enough to gc> with a dress gown.
