CAR ON FIRE

ENGINE BACKFIRES A Daimler motor-car owned by Mr. C. W. Webster, of Wartham’s Lane, caught fire in Victoria Avenue, Remuera, yesterday about 1.43 p.m. The Parnell and Remuera brigades turned out, but the owner extinguished the flames with an extinguisher before they arrived. The fire was caused through the engine backfiring. The car, which was only slightly damaged, is insured for £450 in the New Zealand Insurance Company.
