Lord Arnold, supporting the motion, t said armaments provided the only * thing in which real economy could be 5 made. < Lord Salisbury said the Government fully realised the usefulness of ' the department, but it must economise and it could not recede from the Bud t get policy. i Lord Beauchamp, supporting the Government, said the value of the 1 ' department would be increased and j not decreased by amalgamation with the Board of Trade.
