CHILD’S SAD DEATH

HELPLESS IN TUB (From Our Oxen Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, To-day Further particulars concerning the drowning of the little girl at Whangarei yesterday show that the fatality did not occur in a mineral stream, ns at first reported, but in a tub. It appears that the little one was playing near a tub in which she dropped a candlestick. In trying to recover it. she overbalanced, and fell with her head beneath the water. She could not recover herself, and hung there helpless until drowned. It was too late when she was found by her mother.
