A. AND P. MEETINGS MR. JONES RESIGNS EXECUTIVE BUSINESS gT ATI NG that he could not approve of the “muzzling” tactics adopted by the president at the annua! meeting, or his “extraordinary rulings” at recent committee meetings, Mr. A. C. Jones, wrote forwarding his resignation from the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association, In his letter, which was received at yesterday’s meeting of the executive, Mr. Jones stated he was of the opinion that allowing a defaulter the privilege of voting was a distinct breach of rule 21, which stated that any member whose annual subscription for the previous year had not been paid, shall not be entitled to vote at the annual or other meetings of the association or at any meetings of the committee. The resignation was received with regret. Referring to it at a later stage of the meeting, the chairman, Mr. W. W. Massey, said, he very much regretted that Mr. Jones had seen fit to resign. He had always had the interests of the association at heart, and he felt sure that members would join with him in regretting his resignation. ROYAL SHOW A communication was received from the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand advising that at the annual meeting of the society it was agreed that it be a recommendation to the council that the Royal Show be held in the autumn, a nd that the views of the various associations on the question be obtained. Against the holding of the Royal Show in the spring it was stated that it interfered with work in connection with calving and foaling, etc. It was also stated by the Royal Society that the absence of pastures during the preparation for the spring shows largely increased the cost of preparation. It was resolved that the association express its approval of the changing of the season of the show to the autumn. Sub-committees were appointed in connection with the forthcoming winter show 7 , arrangements in connection with which were stated to be well in hand. The Auckland Condemned Stock Insurance Fund advised that Mr. Wilfred Johnstone, one of the farmers’ representatives on the board of management, had retired from office, and asked that the association nominate a suitable person. It was resolved that Mr. T. Muir be nominated.
