BRITANNIA
“THE WALTZ DREAM” In order to get really authentic backgrounds for “The Waltz Dream" which is being shown at the Britannia Theatre. Ludwig Berger, director of the UFA special, took his entire company to Vienna. The celebrated Schoenbrunn Castle was borrowed ’for the occasion and the extensive driveways used. It is doubtful whether permission would have been granted to film these grounds during the lifetime of the late Francis Joseph, benevolent monarch though he was, but the present Government is in great sympathy with the motion picture industry, and when it was explained that “The Waltz Dream" would be shown in America by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, permission was readily granted. Mady Christians, a Viennese beauty, portrays the character of Princess Alix, while Willy Fritsch is Nux, the Prince Consort, and Xenia Desni is Franzi, leader of the ladies' orchestra, who educates the Princess and loses her lover thereby.
