“LOVE’S GREATEST MISTAKE”
A FINE SCREEN DRAMA In “Love’s Greatest Mistake,’’ Paramount offers one of the most entertaining screen dramas of the year. Briefly, this picturisation of Frederic Arnold Kummer's “Liberty Magazine” story of the same name, is ’he romance'of a beautiful girl who Tomes from a small town to New York, seeking adventure in its gay night life. She fails in with far more adventure t:nan she bargained for, finds herself nearly involved in a blackmailing plot against a wealthy admirer of hers, and redeems herself with an heroic display of courage. in the end attaining a true valuation of life. Josephine Hunn, as Honey McNeil, the girl in the case, is here cast in her first feature role and carries it off with remarkable ease for such a newcomer on the screen, more than vindicating her training in the Para mount School. William Powell. as Hon Kendall, furnishes another of his priceless bad man characterisations Evelyn Brent is perfect as Honey’s eldest sister, Jane, married but with a flair for youthful and peppy masculinity. Edward Sutherland. who demonstrated his directorial ability so clearly with “Behind the Front” and “We’re in the Navy Now,” shows with this picture that he is capable of directing serious dramas as well as the comedy t made him famous. Ills penchant for the lighter vein results in certain slyly humorous situations that add greatly to the picture.
