AN AWKWARD PROBLEM (From Our Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Friday action should the Hamilton Fire Brigade take if a serious fire occurred outside of the borough? A meeting of the Hamilton Fire Board discussed this question, to-day, when the chairman. Mr. J McKinnon, mentioned that there were a , -lumber of important buildings within a few miles of Hamilton which might require the services of the brigade in the event of an outbreak of fire. The Waikato Hospital, for instance, was inside the Waipa County boundaries, while were the Hamilton Racing Club’s buildings at Te Rapa, the Matangi Glaxo factory, and the Horotiu freezing works, all needing the Hamilton brigade’s services in the case of an outbreak. The brigade, continued the chairman, would not hesitate to turn out for a fire at the hospital, but -he Fire Board received no compensation in connection with that institution, at whose disposal its services were.
