GREAT SHOOTING IN CLAY-BIRD MATCH
NORTH ISLAND TITLE FIVE DIVIDE MONEY Press Association. NAPIER, Friday^ Phenomenal shooting was witnessed in the North Island clay-bird championship, fired on the Monte. Carlo grounds to-day, with 37 competing. Five riflemen, A. Dobson, D. McLachlan, E. Groome, Duncan Fraser, and F. L. Joblin, had full breaks of 21 each, and divided the prize money. In shooting off the veteran shot, Duncan Fraser, and E. Groome, Hawke’s Bay, carried on until the former dropped out at 55 hits. "Groome got a break and won the championship with 55 consecutive hits, this being the largest shoot-off that has ever taken place in the Dominion for a clay-bird championship. Duncan Fraser is- one of the bestknown shots in the Dominion, and has twice been New Zealand champion. A £25 15s‘ clay-bird handicap -was fired, the prize-moiiey being divided between G. Seddon, Duncan Fraser, J. Benson, G, Pearson, J. G. Syme, G. W. Beard, J. Beard, G. Taft, D. P. North and A. N. Turner, each having 15 breaks. In the! 5-pair, double-rise match, (j. Seddon and A. Dobson divided the first and second prize-money, with nine breaks each. D. P. North was third with eight breaks.
