BIG DEAL COMPLETED Britain to have largest STUDIO IN WORLD Ell cable- —Press Association.—Copyright LONDON, Wednesday. The British Incorporated Picture Company bought for £147,500 an area of 35 acres of the Wembley Exhibition ground, including the Palace of Engineering Hall, the lake, half of Kingsway with the neighbouring gardens, the north entrance to the building, and the Exhibition Bank. Mr. Ralph Pugh, managing director, says that the Palace of Engineering is the largest covered concrete building in the world, enabling it to be made the world’s largest film studio. Thirty film shooting spaces are available simultaneously aud outdoor scenes will be filmed in the lake gardens. There is a possibility of producing 150 films yearly, which will be Britain’s answer to the others’ challenge. Filming will begin next January. Mr. Pugh adds that one of Wembley’s greatest assets is its publicity value, as it is known throughout the world, and the name awakens memories of many associations.—A. and N.Z.
